ToolBox Wish List

There are many things we’d like to add, improve within the CMS. Of course, most of those features have a price tag attached to them. So we have had to prioritize. But this is a good place to add things you think the CMS could use. Feel free to add your wish list …

Just to officially put this on the Wish List…

    – Give user the ability to link to external javascript files.

WTH? I’d never noticed that Map module before. Is that new?

Looks to be there for a very specific task. Though since it exists in the system, it shouldn’t be much work to make it available as another free text area option.

Good suggestion, however to avoid failing in older browsers I suppose I coud use a top and bottom div with rounded-corner, background images. Kind of like those used on full-width modules like the map module (http://go.sdsu.edu/leadershipstartshere/businessmap.aspx). The border radius style is really nice though.

Hmm… my sample link did not show up.

    Trying again http://newscenter.sdsu.edu/student_affairs/test.aspx?

    “Thumbs Up” to those suggestions.

However, for #5, you can create a full-width text area through CSS. See a sample here

Granted, one shouldn’t *have to* create it through a CSS override, but until them it should work OK. (the rounded corners will fail in older browsers)

Here are a few items to start off this list:

    1. Allow for image browsing in the image area (vs searching)
–> This is an older item on the wishlist I’ve been compiling. It seems you can view all your images if you just click “go” and leave the search box empty. I’m not sure if this always works or how this would work on a site with many images.

    2. Allow modules to be displayed on multiple pages

    3. Allow for customization or html in the right side column of the Top Section module or allow for a separate top section module with a free text module to the right (sometimes people don’t have a need for a news listing, but would like to use the story slider)

    4. Have a live preview mode

    5. Ability to create a full width free-text module

    6. Be able to duplicate a page (with all the same headers, background, links, modules, etc.)

The items below are more like bug fixes then a wishlist for added features:

    7. Fix bug where images don’t appear in drop down dialogue when inserting into a free text area.

    8. Make it so that the folder tree in the left column doesn’t collapse when you move to a different page (very annoying to have to reopen folder to get to the page you were working on)

    9. Allow the header image link to work
